In my artmaking, I create and explore imaginative spaces that expand my notions of the nature of life and my place in the world. My subjects are almost always figurative, and I am intrigued by spatial depth that can be created using layers of paint and textures. My art is often centered on spirituality, and I create work that seeks the connections to and lessons from my Christian, African, and Native American past. By mixing symbols and meaning, by affirming the potency of the past, by honoring the holy, through my work, I contemplate the significance and depth of the power of the past to inform the present. My current work explores the power of meditation when seeking peace and enlightenment.
